Establishing your first practice and developing your consultation processes.

A structured professional development program for naturopathic practitioners establishing their careers.
Foundations brings together four areas of professional learning: practitioner identity and clinical confidence, sustainable business design, traditional healing approaches, and contemporary clinical tools.
Across the Summer and Autumn terms, you’ll examine how you consult, communicate, make decisions and manage the practical responsibilities of being in practice. You’ll also develop processes and plans that relate directly to your work, supported by teaching from experienced practitioners and educators.
Four subjects | Two terms | Online learning with live and recorded sessions
Clinical knowledge is one part of professional readiness. Applying it within a consultation, communicating your reasoning, managing boundaries and maintaining a viable business require their own attention.
Early in practice, these responsibilities often arrive together. You may be refining your consultation skills while choosing clinical software, setting fees, interpreting test results and working out how many clients you can reasonably support.
Foundations provides a structured setting in which to examine these decisions.
The program connects clinical practice with professional identity, business planning and practitioner wellbeing. It also creates space to consider the relationship between naturopathy’s traditional foundations and the tools available in contemporary healthcare.
Throughout the program, the emphasis is on thoughtful application: understanding an approach, considering its relevance and limitations, and deciding how it fits within your professional responsibilities.
"The Academy was a game-changer for me. I didn’t realise how isolated and lost I’d been until I was surrounded by people who just got it and could help me move forward confidently."
Foundations is designed for practitioners in the early stages of their naturopathic careers who want a more structured approach to developing their practice.
It may be relevant if you are:

Clinical investigations and digital tools can inform care and improve practice processes. Using them well requires sound reasoning, an understanding of their limitations and attention to the client experience.
This subject combines functional pathology with the practical use of clinical technology. You’ll study test ordering and interpretation alongside digital records, artificial intelligence, telehealth and practice platforms.
The focus is on integrating information and technology into a coherent clinical workflow.
Functional pathology and laboratory interpretation
The first six weeks examine blood testing, gut health, genetics and hormones, including practitioner-only test ordering and interpretation.
You’ll explore how findings contribute to case understanding and clinical planning within your scope of practice.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in practice
Examine potential uses of custom GPTs, automation and case-support tools, including the need for professional judgement when reviewing outputs.
Digital records and clinical software
Consider how systems support documentation and workflow, alongside privacy and professional responsibilities.
Telehealth delivery
Explore client engagement, communication, trust and compliance in remote consultations.
Platforms and practice processes

Our Academy programs combine regular teaching with practical application and structured reflection.
Weekly Online Teaching
Each term includes two subjects, with one class per subject each week. The handbook schedules masterclasses on Mondays and Tuesdays, with live or recorded learning.
Practical Resources
Action sheets, case studies, transcripts, presentation slides and integration tasks help you relate the teaching to your own practice and identify where further development is needed.
Applied Assessment
This gives you opportunities to turn course content into work you can review, refine and use beyond the program.
In-Person Conference
At the end of the semester we gather in-person to consolidate the learning, directly engage with faculty members, connect with peers.
"This was exactly the bridge I needed. I already had a stable practice, but I felt stuck in a loop. Through the mentoring, I got my first industry speaking gig, mapped out my first online course, and finally saw myself as a speaker and educator, not just a clinician. The shift in confidence was huge and the community has been incredible support."
"I came into this knowing I wanted to expand beyond 1:1 consults, but I had no idea how to do it without burning out as I was already working overtime all the time. This program helped me find my voice, clarify my message, and launch a group mentoring offer that feels completely aligned. It gave me structure, but also space to plan strategically for me."
"What surprised me most was how much the program focused on embodiment not just strategy. Yes, I refined my offerings and created impactful content, but I also reconnected with my purpose. This program wasn’t about hustle, it was about building something meaningful and sustainable and who you meet along the way."
